Dan Skorin – Exploring the hearts and minds of Team GT3!

Describe a typical GT3 working day in the life of Dan.

Normally I am awake before my alarm at 7am, whether I am in the office or working from home I sometimes drive in or take the train. Living in Newark it can take an hour with a black coffee door to door. I tend to work on a few projects at a time, whether extensions or new builds. I revise drawings, specifications, keep an eye on my teams work, and answer a lot of emails. I also answer technical queries for the office and the company as a whole and this can be 1 question a week or 10 a day! With over 15 years of leisure experience, I think I know most things!

What inspired you to follow a career in Architecture?

At school I had 2 jobs I wanted to pursue, architecture and being a pilot. I think my love of Lego as a child swayed my decision to get into architecture. I also liked the idea of telling people I designed this

How would you describe the culture of GT3?

GT3 staff are very diverse, with varying opinions, we have a great group of people. We have lunch clubs, breakfasts, coffee rounds, and good chats. We are all here to do a job but it’s more like a big family where we can chat about our problems, share a joke, throw a stress ball to each other, and generally have a great office environment

Do you have a favourite quote?

I’m unsure my favourite quotes can be shared on social media, but I do love mixing music lyrics up with my best friend and work colleague Steve Mirtle.

What do you love the most about your job?

The job can be very stressful at times with unachievable deadlines, but I love visiting site and seeing my work in the week leading up to the opening, knowing we did this, and seeing people enjoying the new building

Tell us two things most people don’t know about you…

1 – I have worked in many jobs including, Newspaper delivery boy, Bakery cleaner and assistant, Lifeguard, taxi driver, and Handyman

2 – I am learning to fly and have over 45 hours of flying time and I will complete it one day!
