Joanna Wylie

Joanna Wylie

Joanna has lived in Newcastle for over twenty years. She moved to the north east to study architecture and travelled the world through her student years, including time in Uganda, Brazil, and Taiwan.

She loves creating spaces where people thrive and designing buildings that support communities.

At the weekend and on her day off Joanna plays tennis, bakes with her daughter, and is an active member of her local church helping with the 4 – 7 year olds.

Specialisms: Before joining GT3, Joanna was lead architect on a new-build academy. Seeing it rise out of the ground and reflecting on the future generations of children it will help was a highlight. Alongside her experience in education Joanna brings with her experience of later-living design, mixed-use feasibilities, and developing heritage sites: helping existing buildings reach their architectural potential. For many years she was a tutor at Newcastle University assisting with the Architecture and Urban Planning course.

Personal Ambition: "I'd love to expand my experience of watercolour painting... and keep supporting locally bakeries, particularly in the sale of their almond croissants!"
