We are over the moon to learn that Slough Ice Arena won ‘Best Public Service’ building in the LABC Building Excellence Awards for the Central Region. The project will now be entered into the Grand Final for UK-wide recognition in November.
The £10m refurbishment and extension of Slough Ice Arena was commissioned as part of the Slough Joint Wellbeing Strategy and had as a primary objective to support the local community’s health and activity as well as continuing to act as a home to the Slough Jets Ice Hockey Team. The centre now hosts SPICE, an organisation which teaches children and young adults to skate in in a dynamic and calm setting and it was recently used as the training centre for the Stars of ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice’.
