Stepping imaginatively beyond normal town-centre parameters.
Colchester Borough Council appointed us to help them to deliver an important and exciting extension to the retail, leisure and residential offer in the town centre at Vineyard Gate. Our scope was to deliver concept drawings, feasibility and cost planning for a potential scheme.
The Vineyard Gate site is situated at the southern end of the town centre in close proximity to Colchester Town Station and the new St Botolph’s Quarter regeneration development. It currently comprises a car park surrounded by both a historic Roman Wall and numerous commercial properties.
Our Masterplan aimed to provide imagination and creativity, challenging what a town-centre site could be, and making the most of Colchester’s particular strengths. Our proposed scheme includes a mixed-use development to complement and add to the existing town centre offer, including pedestrian links through to the town centre via the historic town wall.
