King Alfred Leisure Centre Redevelopment: Ambitious Plans Unveiled

We are proud to be leading the design of a £65 million redevelopment of King Alfred Leisure Centre in Brighton & Hove, in collaboration with Brighton & Hove City Council and Alliance Leisure. The project will deliver a modern, sustainable, and accessible leisure destination on the city’s iconic seafront.

A New Era for Leisure
The redeveloped centre will replace the ageing facility and feature:

  • Family leisure water experiences
  • A significantly expanded fitness suite
  • Entertainment and social spaces
  • Sea views from pools, gym, and café
  • A revitalised public realm connecting the centre to the wider community

Design Rooted in Context and Community
“The new King Alfred Leisure Centre takes inspiration from the rhythm and formality of the neighbouring Victorian streets, while celebrating the playful spirit of Brighton & Hove’s promenade and wider city. Approachable on all four sides, its corners unfold as invitations to gather, move, and play, turning thresholds into moments of connection. The result is an exciting civic landmark, rooted in both context and community, and alive with the joy of leisure.”

Collaboration Driving Success
We are delighted to be working alongside Alliance Leisure, Willmott Dixon, Hadron Consulting (Project Management), and our wider project team to bring this transformative project to life.
