2026 marks ten years since GT3 Architects was formed!
In 2016, two practices came together with a shared belief that architecture should do more than simply create buildings. The merger of GT Architects and +3 Architecture marked the beginning of a new practice, shaped by collaboration, curiosity and a people-first mindset that continues to define how we work across our studios today.
Over the past decade, GT3 has grown in scale, reach and ambition. Working across multiple studios, our teams now deliver projects nationwide, spanning sport and leisure, residential, workplace, education, civic and regeneration. Alongside this, our offer has expanded through the growth of GT3 Interiors and GT3 Consultancy, strengthening our ability to support clients with integrated design thinking from strategy through to delivery.
While the work has evolved, our focus remains consistent. We design architecture that responds to real needs, supports communities and delivers long-term value, driving commercial success while empowering social impact.
To mark our tenth year, we are taking a moment to pause and reflect.
A decade of People Architecture
Throughout 2026, we will be spotlighting one project each month, working through our portfolio to revisit key moments from our journey. Each project offers an opportunity to revisit the design, the context and the ideas behind it, highlighting how our approach to People Architecture has been applied in practice.
Beginning in 2016 and moving forward through our work to the present day, this series explores the thinking, relationships and decisions behind our buildings. It is a chance to look beyond the finished outcome and share the stories that have shaped our practice, leading up to our most recent projects in 2026.
Hitting the 10-year mark feels like the right time to press pause and reflect, not just to celebrate how far we’ve come, but to acknowledge what we’ve learnt along the way and how it is shaping what comes next.
Founders’ reflection
As we celebrate this milestone, the practice’s founders share their perspective on how GT3 has evolved, and the principles that continue to shape the studio today.
“We’ve always believed in doing things differently, putting people, purpose and performance on an equal footing,” said Mark Gowdridge, co-founder and director. “As we’ve grown, we’ve worked hard to stay grounded in that thinking. Today, our role is not just to design great spaces. It is to help clients navigate complexity, create viable briefs, and deliver sustainable, successful projects in what remains a challenging marketplace.”
“We set out to build a practice where people and purpose come first. Ten years on, we’re proud of the culture we’ve created, the people we’ve brought into the business, and the projects we’ve delivered together,” said Simon Dunstan, co-founder and director. “This milestone is an opportunity to recognise our journey so far and to look ahead. We’ve expanded our reach, grown our team, welcomed five new directors, and continued to strengthen our design approach, always focused on real impact and long-term value for our clients and communities.”
Looking back to move forward
Every project featured reflects the same underlying ambition: to create places that work harder for the people who use them, the communities they serve and the clients who invest in them.
As we revisit ten years of work, we will be sharing insight from across the practice and celebrating the collective effort behind each project. This series is also a thank you to everyone who has been part of GT3’s journey so far, our clients, collaborators and the people across our studios who bring our work to life every day.
What comes next
As we look ahead, this tenth year also marks the start of a new chapter, bringing a refreshed GT3 brand and digital presence that reflects how the practice has evolved while staying true to the principles that have guided us from the start.
The refresh is not about changing who we are, but sharpening how we communicate our work, our culture and our commitment to People Architecture as we move into the next decade. This, alongside our growing Interiors and Consultancy offer, adds a clear focus on collaboration across our studios. We are building on everything the last decade has taught us.
Ten years on, we are proud of what we have built together. And we are excited about what comes next.
