Clay Cross Active: A New Era for Community Wellbeing in Chesterfield

We’re proud to announce that Clay Cross Active is now officially open.

This impressive £26 million community hub in Chesterfield opened to the public on 18 June, with a celebratory launch event held last Friday. Delivered for North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC), the project replaces the former Sharley Park Leisure Centre and brings together health, wellbeing, sport, and support services in one integrated space.

The new facility includes a 25-metre swimming pool, a learner pool, a four-court sports hall, soft play, Tag Active, and a fitness suite. It also features NHS-standard consultation rooms and a dedicated Citizens Advice space, supporting a broader focus on community health and wellbeing.

Congratulations to the entire project team and all the partners involved in bringing this space to life!

Clay Cross Active is a fantastic example of how thoughtful design and collaboration can create spaces that truly serve the needs of the community.
