Charlotte Stone – Exploring the hearts and minds of the individuals in Team GT3!

Describe a typical GT3 working day in the life of Charlotte.
There is definitely no ‘typical’ working day for me, every day is so different, which is one of the things I love about my job. I start my day by getting my ducks in a row and clearing my inbox (or trying to anyway!). My day is then usually followed by a mix of internal/external meetings, design reviews, research, drawing packages, or presentation creation/application… often with a bit of travel thrown in there every now and again. Frequent coffees are always on the agenda.

Why did you become an Interior Architectural Designer?
I love that there are endless opportunities with this career. By taking an IAD degree, you’re not streamlining yourself to just do ‘Interior Architecture’, the skills you learn are extremely invaluable and (I think) appeal to many different industries. This really sold it to me back when I was applying to university!

How would you describe the culture of GT3?
Undoubtedly a sociable bunch! I feel that the whole team have a really good balance in the way of ‘getting things done accurately and efficiently’, whilst enjoying the process and having fun along the way.

If you didn’t take the Interior Design route, what other kind of career could you see yourself in?
So, I’m also a Dancer and have been since the age of 3. Since I’ve been little my dream was to take the performing route, get on the West End, Cruise Ships, you name it! But design swiftly took my heart. I’m fortunate that I now get to balance the two things I love, design & dance – I still take part in professional performances/events throughout the year too, whilst also teaching classes during the evenings as a qualified Dance Teacher!

Do you have a favourite design style? If so, what would you say this is?
I’m quite an open book when it comes to Interiors. I try to appreciate certain elements of a full scheme, even if it’s not my cup of tea. Generally, my eye is always drawn to a more textured, warm, cosy, and authentic space, in contrast to a colourless, minimal, cold scheme.

Tell us two things most people don’t know about you…
1. I’ve skydived over The Palm in Dubai… an insight into the adrenaline junkie side of me!
2. I HATE bananas. The smell, the look, the taste, just no.
