Morpeth Leisure Centre Shortlisted

We are proud to share that Morpeth Leisure Centre has been shortlisted for a RIBA North East Awards 2026.

Located in the heart of Northumberland, the new leisure centre has been designed to support health, wellbeing and everyday community life. The project reflects our commitment to People Architecture, creating inclusive, welcoming environments that place people at the centre of design.

Delivered in collaboration with Northumberland County Council and operated by Places Leisure, the facility brings together swimming, fitness and community activity within a modern, high-quality setting. The design prioritises accessibility, clarity of movement and long-term operational performance, ensuring the building works as well for users as it does for the operator.

From the welcoming public frontage to the carefully planned internal spaces, Morpeth Leisure Centre has been shaped around connection. It provides a flexible and resilient community asset that supports physical activity, social interaction and long-term public value.

Being shortlisted for a RIBA North East Award is an important recognition of the collective effort behind the project and the shared ambition to deliver meaningful civic architecture for the region.

This milestone reflects the strength of collaboration across client, operator, consultant and contractor teams, and our continued focus on creating places that make a lasting difference.
